EAA's
window to the past comes to life for our annual living history event,
Good Ol' Days, Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, at Pioneer
Airport. The usual staff and volunteers will be temporarily
"replaced" by citizens from the 1920s and 30s. Join us as we
journey back in time to the "golden age" of aviation.
Activities
will be available for all ages including a children's activity center
where kids will have the opportunity to experience hands-on games that
were popular during the early days of flight. Those with a sweet tooth
can join in on the pie-eating contest, and those with a sweet spot for
vintage vehicles can get an up-close view at many pre-war vehicles on
display including a 1924 fire truck. Other activities include special
flightline displays and hangar tours.
You can
also watch staff hand-prop vintage airplanes or take a ride in two of
Pioneer Airport's vintage aircraft. Our "time travelers" can
experience the sights and sounds of an open-air cockpit in EAA's 1927
Swallow and 1929 Travel Air biplanes.
Young
Eagles flights will also be available in EAA Young Eagles aircraft for
aviation enthusiasts ages 8 to 17.
Good Ol'
Days event admission and all event activities are included in regular
Museum admission. Vintage airplane rides, sandwiches, beverages and
snacks are available for an additional cost.
We'll see
you in the past!
